Casalbeltrame (NO)

September 16 - November 13, 2007 On Saturday September 15 in Casalbeltrame (Novara), one of the Slow Food towns, will be held the first edition of the International Prize Giovane Scultura Fondazione Francesco Messina.
Twenty exhibitions of twenty artists will be hosted in Materima, a new seat for contemporary sculpture of more than 20000 square metres inside the ancient village of Casalbeltrame.
Studio Copernico of Milan has completely restored these spaces aiming at promoting the diffusion of plastic arts.
The following artists will be on exhibition until Novemeber 13 and have been selected by a panel of experts composed by Alberto Fiz, Dominique Marchès, Francesco Poli, Marco Vallora: Jessica Carrol, Paolo Delle Monache, Giuseppe Ducrot, Paolo Grassino, Isola & Norzi, Lucio e Peppe Perone, Paolo Schmidlin, Saverio Todaro, Jelena Vasiljev, Fabio Viale, Damien Cabanes, Céline Cadaureille, Yves Chaudouët, Roland Cognet, Carole Manaranche, Stephen Marsden, Philippe Toupet, Elsa Sahal.

The Prize, organized and supported by Fondazione Francesco Messina, fulfils this artist’s desire to help young artists.
The event, realized by Nicola Loi from Studio Copernico of Milan, will be held every two years and two prizes will be awarded according to the judgement of a panel of experts and collectors: one to an Italian artist and the other to an artist from the host Country.

Therefore the Prize will unable critics and the general public to appreciate stilistic and cultural similarities and differences of two countries. This year Casalbeltrame welcomes France.
During the opening night a few coaches will take visitors to the exhibitions.
Materima is in a strategic position, midway between Milan and Turin, and aims at being a cultural epicentre, an international intersection immersed in a naturalistic oasis.
